The Super Eagles were leading 1-0 when Sani Kaita was given his marching orders. An idiotic kung-fu kick on Tsoridis put paid to any hope that Nigeria may have had of advancing to the round of 16. Yes, there is still a remote chance of progress if they beat Korea and Greece lose to Argentina.
At ten men, Greece took off their customary defensive shield, brought in Samaras as a third striker and started driving at the Nigerian goal repeatedly. Georgios Karagounis was instrumental in getting the Piratiko back into the game. His inspiration and leadership in pushing Greece forwards allowed them to get this valuable win. He was everywhere on the pitch and got Greece ticking over as Piratiko took advantage of the extra man advantage.
Vincent Enyeama did all he could to stop Greece from winning and taking three vital points. He made four or five top-class saves to deny Samaras, Krygiakos and Gekas. Enyeama is a clear contender for the tournament's best goalkeeper award. He has proven that his fine performance against Argentina was no fluke with a similarly athletic performance against Greece. West Ham's interest in this 27-year old shot-stopper who can also score/take penalties is surely justified based on his sterling performance.
For me, the sending-off was the best thing to have happened. The game turned into a very absorbing and interesting match with lots of see-saw moments. Nigeria was hitting Greece on the counter attack and there were two occassions that Nigeria could have and should have scored. Yakubu letting fly and missing the post. Chinedu awful miss after Yakubu had forced a save from the Greek keeper. Had either of the two went in, a 2-2 draw could have been the result.
Greece finally got their first points ever in a World Cup. Now they are setting their sights on the Round of 16. Can Greece keep the Argentinians quiet in their last group match and progress into the knockout phase?

It was a great game by the "Pirates" and the most thrilling game so far in the World Cup.
And to aswer your last question: No, they definately cannot win the Argentinians. However, that is what everyone thought about Greek chances of getting through the group stage in the Euro 2004 competition. And they ended up winning the trophy.
So who knows? Maybe they can steal this game too. After all isn't this the reason the are called "Pirates"?
Ha ha ha, I won't say it was the most thrilling game but it kept me on the edge of my seat.
The World Cup is getting better and better as the matches keep coming.
