The Answer Lies in History

A late late goal gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Fulham and also moving them ahead of Man Utd in the Premiership table. It was Liverpool's 5th injury time win this season. This knack of snatching or fluking wins, I have seen before and it usually resides with the champions-elect.
The other notable match was the Man Utd-Villa match which ended 3-2 for the Red Devils. There too, a 93rd minute goal broke Villan hearts. Again, tenacious and flukey stuff, usually coming from champions-elect. Sir Alex looked really relieved on TV! Still United have done this 4 times this season.
Are we any closer to knowing who will take the title this season? No but since the inception of the Premier League, Manchester United is the only club to have won 3 consecutive titles. So they have that experience about them. Liverpool, on the other hand have the mental strength, they have turned potential draws into victories this season. Something they have not managed to do in previous seasons.
Historically as a benchmark, the champions of that season have won at minimum 26 matches. Liverpool will need to win ALL of their 7 remaining matches to reach this number and there will be no room for error. In contrast, Manchester United has to win only 5 more matches to reach 26 in the Games Won category.
Clearly the task is more difficult for Liverpool but if any team have the momentum and the mentality, they are likely to be the one. Then again, even Chelsea could step in and shake things up as they also are in great form. Man, this is really a tough call.
