Harry Redknapp's Joker in Steven Pienaar

With the ridiculously priced £3million accepted, Steven Pienaar's signature confirmed and enhanced Harry Redknapp's reputation as the premier wheeler dealer manager of the Barclays Premier League. Once again, Harry Redknapp effortlessly adds established stars to his Spurs squad. 'Arry just cannot resist a deal, can he?

Spurs is a club on the up and it is understandable that Pienaar would be excited to play for a side who can be a surprise Champions League winner. There is an inconsistency within Spurs and Pienaar will address that weakness. I believe Aaron Lennon's first team place could be in jeopardy with the arrival of the little South African.

In his Ajax days, he seemed a lot more creative, scoring goals from the right side of the Ajax midfield. Hopefully the move to an attack-minded Spurs midfield will elevate Pienaar's already formidable Premiership reputation.

Spurs are stockpiling midfielders as usual. Redknapp now has a huge task of keeping the likes of Kranjcar, Sandro, Palacios, Huddlestone, O'Hara, Jenas and Lennon happy on the Lilywhites' bench.

Spurs, in my opinion, still lack a potent goal scorer other than Jermain Defoe as they do struggle to kill off matches this season. The capture of Luis Fabiano may be wishful thinking but that's exactly what Spurs need if they are to continue their impressive progress.

Though it's been a quiet season so far for Pienaar, he was excellent for Everton during his time there. Along with Mikel Arteta, Pienaar has been the creative force for the Toffees. Spurs fans can expect the same commitment and artistry from the little magician. And he used to play with Rafael Van der Vaart back in their Ajax days.
